This week we had a wonderful time on our school trip to Legoland. We enjoyed taking part in a Lego workshop where we worked together to build a Lego map of the world and learned about all of the continents and oceans. Next we went on some really fun rides before taking a tour of Miniland. We hope you enjoy looking at the photos of our day.
We have been using books and the internet to research animals that live in the Rainforest. We made notes about the information we found out and then used Purple Mash to make our own information posters about these animals. By Ore and Joel During some free time some of the artists in our class decided to draw portraits of one another with some striking resemblances!
This half term our topic is The Rainforest. This week we have been researching information about which countries have Rainforests and what it would be like to live in the Rainforest. We worked together to make a giant jigsaw of the world and found the countries that we have been learning about.
Mrs Russell read us a story this week called 'Dinosaurs and All That Rubbish' by Michael Foreman. It made us think about our environment and how we should look after the world around us. Mrs Russell then set us a challenge to think about how we could recycle our rubbish and turn it into art. It was amazing to see all of the different things we could make from items that we would normally just throw away. This term we are learning gymnastics in our P.E. lessons. We have been learning how to balance, thinking of different ways to travel and we have been improving our climbing and our strength by using the wall bars. This week we celebrated St Anne Line Day. As part of the celebrations we were lucky enough to have a musician that came into our school and taught us how to use both our voices and musical instruments to create rhythms. We have also been working very hard to earn a special treat during our golden time. When we line up beautifully, tell a good tale about our friends and are kind to one another we can earn a ball to put in a jar in our classroom. This week we have been doing so many good things that we filled up our jar and got to play with some really fun toys! Here are some pictures of us playing with our special treat! To finish our week of fun, we made the bus Rosa Parks travelled on out of clay!
As we are have been learning about Rosa Parks as part of our Important Women In History topic, we spent this week learning about the country Rosa came from - United States of America.
We learnt about the different states, created our own map of America and made the American flag. This week we have been estimating. We had to estimate how many objects there were in different groups and then estimate how tall we were. Next we counted and measured to see if we had estimated correctly.
We were glad to be back at school after the Christmas holidays and we got straight back to work writing our own stories. When we finished our work we decided to open our own class bakery. We really enjoyed making our own play dough cakes to sell, deciding how much each cake should cost and then opening the shop to our customers! |
