As we have been learning about the Rainforest we decided that as part of International Week we would learn about Brazil. We used the internet to research facts about Brazil and found out all about its capital, the population and landmarks. We made carnival hats that people would wear in the Rio Carnival, coloured in pictures of the famous statue Christ the Redeemer, made our own flags and learned to sing a song in Portuguese. We then shared everything we had learned with the rest of the school and our friends and families in our International Day assembly.
We have been learning the story 'The Magic Paintbrush' which is set in China. We have found it really interesting to learn more about China in our lessons over the last few weeks. We have found out about life in China and how it has changed through history. We have learned about things we would see in China and the landscape of the country. Finally we learned to count in Chinese and tried to write some words using Chinese writing. The thing we enjoyed the most was making Chinese food and using chopsticks before we set up our own Chinese restaurant! As we are learning about Rosa Parks as part of our 'Important Women In History' topic, we spent this week learning about the country Rosa came from - the United States of America. We learnt about the different states, created our own map of America and made the American flag. |
